8 Days Lemosho Route Itinerary

Day 1: Londorossi Gate (2,100m) to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650m)

Drive to Londorossi Gate. Trek through beautiful rainforest. Approx 3-4 hours walking.

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp (3,610m)

Trek through heath and moorland zones. First views of Kibo Peak. Approx 5-6 hours walking.

Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp (3,850m)

Short acclimatization day exploring the Shira Plateau. Approx 3-4 hours walking.

Day 4: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp (3,960m) via Lava Tower (4,630m)

"Climb high, sleep low" day. Trek to Lava Tower for acclimatization. Approx 6-7 hours walking.

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (4,200m)

Climb the famous Barranco Wall. Continue to Karanga Camp. Approx 4-5 hours walking.

Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,680m)

Trek to Barafu Camp, the summit base camp. Early dinner and rest. Approx 4-5 hours walking.

Day 7: Summit Day - Uhuru Peak (5,895m)

Midnight ascent to Stella Point (5,756m) then Uhuru Peak. Descend to Mweka Camp. Approx 11-14 hours walking.

Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (1,640m)

Descend through rainforest to Mweka Gate. Receive certificates and transfer to hotel. Approx 3-4 hours walking.
